New 'Doctor Who' leaked onto internet (via bit torrent)
The first episode of the new Doctor Who series has been leaked onto the internet weeks ahead of its official TV premiere.

The 45-minute episode, titled 'Rose,' was made available for download on several torrent sites late yesterday. Rose is the name of the Doctor's new assistant, played by Billie Piper.

The revived show, which features Christopher Eccleston in the lead role, is expected to air on BBC One later this month.

The BBC tonight told Digital Spy that it was attempting to track down the source of the leaked episode. "This is a significant breach of copyright which is currently under investigation," said a spokesperson. "The source of it appears to be connected to our co-production partner.

1. I've just finished watching the episode
It's not bad, overall I'm giving it a 7.5/10 - and much better than the bad 1996 TV movie.

Ecclestone's Doctor is very different, distinct and certainly isn't a copy of anything previous.

Good points:
Ecclestone's character
The big leap in production values
Supporting charcters were acted out well
It made me want to watch the next episode

Bad points:
Plot slightly over the top (but it is Dr Who after all)
The episode story did lose it's way a little towards the end

4. well. a little dissapointing.
id give it a ..... 5.5 / 10.

ecclestone could be a good doctor.
the production is more modern fwiw.

it was a little too music video-ish.
the storyline was pretty weak.

maybe this was done as an intro show and it will get better.

2. I've seen the first fifteen minutes or so.
The credits are awful - let's hope they tighten them up for the actual broadcast, but the episode works (what I've seen of it), and Eccleston is perfect. The show will succeed because, regardless of anything else, Christopher Eccleston has created a brilliant character, a new Doctor, but one who is obviously from the same place as Tom Baker, Sylvester McCoy or Jon Pertwee.
It's going to work.

3. Yes, I was impressed by the way Ecclestone's character
commanded screen presence very early on. I am going to watch it when it's shown on television too, to see if they've tightened things up - or maybe because I've been without Dr. Who for ages.
