So the Duggars Are Having Their 20th Kid
Around the time that our planet is "celebrating" having it's 7 billionth inhabitant, the Duggars are making their latest over generous contribution.
Now, I don't watch much TV, especially reality shows. But, I do read the blurbs online and Google. From what I've gathered, Michelle and Jim Bob are stars of the reality show, "19 and Counting" or some such nonsense. Each of their children's names begins with a "J", possibly because of Jaysus. They eschew all birth control, even the natural. They are uber religious fundies and believe each child is a gift from God and they take that command to be fruitful and multiply to a fanatical degree. In her last pregnancy, Michelle Duggar suffered from gall bladder problems and pre-eclampsia. According to the MSN article, her daughter was delivered three and a half weeks early and had a series of health emergencies and was lucky to have made it. Now, the couple is waxing euphoric about the latest gift from the Lord.

Now, I believe in freedom of choice. But, this is my OP and I'm venting big time.
These people make the batshit crazy meter smoke and catch on fire.
When I read the article, I had to Facebook my catty contribution on it's comment page. My sympathies go mostly to the kids. I come from an ethnic family of five. And I'm the youngest with a 16 year gap between the next youngest. My siblings all spoil me, but they've cried on my shoulder about how Concepcion was the favorite because she got a scholarship. Or Antonio because he was the only surviving boy. Or Margaret because she went on to make the most money in the family. Or Consuelo because she was a raving beauty. Or, yes, me, because I was the baby. My parents had problems handling sibling rivalry and they had problems having alone time with each of my siblings because my Dad worked hard and my Mom had health problems. Not to mention that parents are only human. Ideally, they shouldn't indulge in favoritism. But, they do.

Don't tell me that the Duggars have time for 19 kids. Michelle is no sooner recovering from one pregnancy than she's banged up with another. She proudly admits to tiredness, morning sickness and all the ills that plague the curse of the daughters of Eve when bring forth their young. I'm sure she has post-partum depression. I know I would.

A child needs one-on-one time with his/her parents. They need "us" time. A time when it's just the mother or father doing something together to bond and give the child a sense of security and of being loved and cherished. The Duggars insist that they do it; that they have that idealistic relationship with each one of their 19 kids.

I say bullshit. There aren't enough hours in the day and the horde is too huge to allow it. Besides, how would they do it? They brag that they have a 7,000 sq. foot home. Sounds pretty big. I have a 3,000 sq. foot home. It's been enough for my husband, myself, my two kids, his three kids and that's it. And it's been mostly when they've rotated back and forth from college. And we've been crowded when they've all been here. Those Duggar kids must be stacked on each other like cordwood.

A "reality" show isn't real. And the Duggars take crazy to atmospheric levels. But, like I said, I believe in a woman's right to choose.

I just think that those people are choosing to be as crazy as moonbats and that their children are paying the price no matter how utopian they try to portray their lives to be. But, Gawd is telling them that he wants them to keep on churning out those little Duggars.

No matter how miserable they might grow up to be and how unfit their publicity-seeking, overly fecund, fanatical parents are.

1. Mrs. Duggar must have the same mental disorder as OctoMom.
During the OctoMom BS I remember reading about some women that have a pathological addiction to being pregnant and having kids.

3. Her husband isn't much better.
He must equate his fertility with studliness or something. He certainly doesn't have the well-being of his wife and children in mind.

4. I think that photo was taken five kids back.
It's terrible how they not only have so many kids, they even dress them identically to take their individuality away from them. Might as well not even name them, just give the poor things numbers. I wonder if they even get their names right most of the time or if they need prompt cards.

7. They're nuts
They're working under a delusion that they must incessantly pump out puppies for their god, regardless of the effects on the mother's health/safety, the other members of the litter, or society at large. But it's their religious freedom to do so.
