This Is An Actual Movie

Screening tonight at the Family Research Council's Values Voters Summit in Miami is Christmas With A Capital C, a movie depicting how one Satanic atheist tried to ruin Christmas for an entire Alaskan town.

"Christmas with a Capital C" was filmed in Seward the last of February and early March. The movie stars Daniel Baldwin (the second-oldest of the Baldwin brothers) and Ted McGinley (from "Married ... with Children), plus a slew of Seward extras, including high school students, stay-at-home moms and guys standing in the cold rain for hours without a jacket. The straight-to-DVD movie centers around two high school rivals - Baldwin and McGinley - at odds over a Nativity scene in a city building. Baldwin plays the antagonist, or the Grinch, who experiences an eventual change of heart. "This is a feel-good movie, with a lot of conflict and the theme of the Grinch finally coming home," said Anchorage-based executive producer David Cuddy. "The final scene is like 'It's a Wonderful Life,' where his character melts and becomes a good guy."

1. If the well being and happiness of an entire town depends on some plastic...
...figures and dolls sitting in a city building, then they have a lot more to worry about than a lone Atheist....satanic or otherwise.

2. What the hell is a "satanic atheist", anyway?
Is it something like a pagan Christian?

3. And what about those of us...
who want to put the "X" back in "XMAS" (it irritates people down here when I wish them "merry Xmas" :))

4. Kirk Hameron must be pissed...
How'd he get passed over for this Major Dramatic Role? Oh, he probably wanted too much money. And a cut of the DVD profits...

Funny thing - as a commenter at Joe.My.God pointed out: it sounds like "executive producer David Cuddy" has never seen any of the Xmas movies he references.

In It's A Wonderful Death, there is no "change of heart." Jimmy Stewart is a good guy all the way thru and Mr. Potter is a bad guy. Though I always thought the future "Potterville" looked a lot more interesting than whitebread Bedford Falls - Potterville had bars (with jazz!), loose women, and Negroes.

And "The Grinch" isn't about anybody "coming home."

He seems to be talking about "A Christmas Carol." But maybe he never saw that one either.

Oh well. "Executive Producer" is usually translated as "person who put up the money to make this crap," so no movie knowledge is really required. (Exception - on Big Major Hollywood Productions, "executive producer" often means "person the real producer/director/overpaid star is sleeping with this week.")

7. I wonder when someone will come up with a movie called 'How the Fundie Christian Stole Christmas'...
That would have far more historical validity than the atheist version, as the only REAL 'war on Christmas' that I know of, was the one waged in the 17th century by Oliver Cromwell and the Puritans. They considered, no doubt correctly, that it was a mainly Pagan festival, and banned Christmas celebrations for that reason.

8. Notice the movie pushes the latest fundagelical attempt
at historical revisionism, too. "Christians started the United States of America!"

I did like this comment, though: "I think we should have more holidays based on the births of deluded lunatics born out of wedlock to whores from Bethlehem."

11. Uh, 'Satanic Atheist' is a oxymoron...
there is no such thing and one has to be dumb as a table to think that there is.
