Label.
How would you call someone who has no eating principles aside from what he/she feels like eating at any particular moment, depending on the circumstances? Does anyone here feels or sees any need of finding a word that would define such position?

1. Omnivore?
That's what humans are generally referred to - we can subsist on animal or vegetable food sources. And if you still don't mind eating both, I guess you're still an omnivore.

2. Right. But a human
vegetarian is still an omnivore. He can eat from any source. So if you have no principle guiding your eating habits, other than whatever it is that you feel like eating at the moment, what should you be called? And why would you need to be called anything? See what I'm driving at?

3. Oh I think I see.
Omnivore - carnivore - herbivore: what you physiologically CAN eat (and process)

You're looking for a variant of vegetarian - vegan - ??, one that describes a personal philosophy towards eating.

How about "hungry"? ;-)

4. Sounds to me more like they might be referring to
the psychological aspects of eating.
Like bulemics, anorexics or over-eaters, etc.
