About 300 detainees were released during a ceremony Thursday at Camp Victory in Baghdad.
The detainees had the chance to address their case personally in a review-board process. They also made a pledge to an Iraqi judge to maintain peace and good conduct, according to a news release issued Friday by Multi-National Force-Iraq.
While held, the detainees had the chance to participate in basic education courses, religious discussions, vocational training and work programs, the release said.
Wijdan Mikhail Salim, minister of human rights, officiated at the ceremony.
“We work to raise Iraq and the name of our country high for our civilization, our common history, the future of our children, and for the sake of every Iraqi citizen to have glory and pride,” he said.
