AAFES gas price drop in Germany, U.K. biggest since summer

European edition, Friday, December 14, 2007

Army and Air Force Exchange Service unleaded gas prices will drop across the board Saturday for the second time in two weeks in Germany, the United Kingdom and the Netherlands.

Though not dramatic, it is the most significant weekly reduction in gas prices since the middle of August for AAFES customers in Germany and the U.K.

Regular unleaded gas, sold only in Germany, falls 6.1 cents a gallon to $3.167. In the last four weeks, regular gas has fallen 11.1 cents per gallon, though it is still about 80 cents more expensive than it was this time last year.

Midgrade drops 5.7 cents to $3.288 in Germany and $3.226 in the U.K., while premium falls 5.4 cents to $3.405 in Germany and $3.343 in the U.K.

Diesel prices will plunge 9.1 cents a gallon to $3.43 in the U.K., but will increase 1.3 cents in Germany to $3.617 a gallon as a result of an increase in AAFES’ cost for diesel in the country.
