Sixty-three airmen from the 1st Security Forces Squadron at Langley Air Force Base, Va., returned recently from a 10-month deployment to Camp Bucca, Iraq, the 1st Fighter Wing announced Thursday.

The airmen were responsible for convoy operations, area and perimeter security and detainee operations at Bucca, one of the two main detention centers for those picked up by the coalition suspected of being insurgents.

This was the 16th major deployment for the squadrons airmen since 2001, according to the wing press release, and there are currently 895 Langley airmen still deployed in support of the war on terror.

Camp Bucca is near the southern Iraqi city of Umm Qasr.
