Did you serve at El Toro, or Tustin?
Letters of El Toro and Tustin

The Orange County Register is compiling an online database of personal writings and photos taken and written by those who served at the Tustin and El Toro bases.

The information submitted will be displayed online by the Register and may be printed in the newspaper in some format. For those who have siblings, parents or friends who have written about their experience but who have since passed away - we would be happy to include
their writings and photos online as well.

Please send in the following:
A LETTER: Write a first-person account of your experience at either or both the Tustin and El Toro bases.
PHOTOS: Send in photos of you, the base or areas surrounding the base. These must be non-licensed photos.

THE FOLLOWING:

Please send your letter, answers to our questions and photos to Sonya Smith or Erika Chavez, reporters for the Orange County Register. We prefer to receive the written information via e-mail. 1. I've served in Tustin for 30 years, but not in the military.

2. MCAS Tustin: Are the hangars still there?
Or have they been converted into something else?

4. Still there. One was going to remain as a museum
but am not sure. I think that it would require a lot of maintenance.

But you can ask the reporter whose name is in the OP.

5. They have to be,
wasn't one of them used in that Taco Bell commercial with the exploding windows?

It looked like it to me.

Although I loved MCAS Tustin, I though of it as a short timers base!

3. I miss El Toro
Best station I was ever at. If I'd known the air wings were so nice I would have done aircraft tech.
