A soldier accused of premeditated murder in the death of a fellow soldier’s wife at Fort Leonard Wood, Mo., will be tried in a court-martial there beginning May 18, the Army announced in a news release Friday.
Spc. Jermaine Johnson, 26, an Army reservist with the 7223rd Medical Support Detachment 10 from Mobile, Ala., was arrested Oct. 14 in connection with the death of Myria Silva, who is believed to have died about four days earlier.
Silva, 23, was married to Pfc. Benjamin Silva, who is assigned to the 4th Maneuver Enhancement Brigade at the post.
At an arraignment Friday, Johnson, who was serving in Fort Leonard Wood’s General Leonard Wood Army Community Hospital as a healthcare specialist, did not enter a plea, reserving his right to make any and all motions available to him, the release said.
In addition to the premeditated murder charge, Johnson faces a charge each of intent to deceive or provide false statements; sodomy against Myria Silva, assault with intent to inflict grievous bodily harm against her; adultery, kidnapping and obstruction of justice.
