FORT WAINWRIGHT, Alaska — Army officials say a Fort Wainwright-based soldier has been found dead at his parent’s home.

The Army says 28-year-old Spc. Cody L. Lamb was discovered Sunday morning at the family home in Johnson City, Tenn.

Officials say the cause of death is pending autopsy results.

Lamb was assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 8th Field Artillery Regiment, 1st Stryker Brigade Combat Team, 25th Infantry Division at Fort Wainwright in Fairbanks.

Officials say the brigade was deployed to Iraq in September. Lamb was in Tennessee visiting his family while on a mid-tour leave.

1. This is so sad.
We have a peace vigil twice a week and many on the line think we should stop because Obama won. We have Vets who stop by and tell us how great the country treats them and that we are an embarrassment to the troops. I guess some of these brave soldiers just fall through the cracks. Thanks for posting this. peace, kim

3. I think that is a good benchmark.
I hope we live to see the day.
