BISMARCK, N.D. — The commander of the North Dakota National Guard says eight soldiers have been ordered to mobilize for duty in Africa next year.

Maj. Gen. Dave Sprynczynatyk says the soldiers are members of the Bismarck-based Detachment 42 Operational Support Airlift. He says the unit also served in Afghanistan from September 2004 to March 2005.

Sprynczynatyk said the detachment is a small but highly specialized aviation unit that operates C-12 Huron aircraft to transport personnel and cargo. He says the unit will serve in Africa with the Djibouti Combined Joint Task Force.
