3 sailors killed in motorcycle accidents

SAN DIEGO — Three sailors are dead after two weekend motorcycle crashes in San Diego County.

Two of the men died early Sunday morning when the motorcycle they were riding struck a tractor-trailer at 65 mph and slid underneath it.

The 22-year-old driver died at the scene, and the 20-year-old passenger was later pronounced dead at UCSD Medical Center.

A third Navy sailor died in a separate accident shortly after noon Sunday.

Cal Fire Capt. Steve Foster says the 34-year-old died at the scene after his motorcycle went off the side of Highway 94. No other vehicles were involved in the accident.
