An Air Force reservist apparently drowned June 8 while on a training mission that stopped over in the U.S. Virgin Islands.

Master Sgt. Douglas M. Lowery, 41, of the 445th Airlift Wing out of Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, Ohio, was on a two-day training assignment as an aeromedical evacuation technician when he died, a wing spokesman said.

Lowery was flying as a crew member on a KC-135 that landed on the island of St. Croix. Other than that Lowery died while off-duty, details of the accident weren’t available, the spokesman said.
