Lima Company reservists heading back to Iraq

COLUMBUS, Ohio — Ten Ohio-based Marine reservists are heading back to Iraq this summer.

Officials say nine of the Lima Company reservists fought in Iraq when 23 of their fellow Marines were killed in 2005. It became the hardest hit unit to fight in the now-five-year-old war.

The Marine reservists returned home in October 2005 and were the subject of last year’s documentary TV film, “Combat Diary: The Marines of Lima Company.” That project used the Marine’s home video.

The reservists last year were told they might be deployed again. Members have been getting their lives in order in case they got the call.

They are scheduled to go to training in May and be in Iraq by late September.
