Army Times: Guard recruiter accused of faking GEDs
BATON ROUGE, La. — The Louisiana National Guard has suspended a recruiter accused of falsifying high-school equivalency certificates and other papers for four recruits.

Investigators also will check qualifications of everyone enlisted by Sgt. Stephen Davis since he became a recruiter in 2005, said Col. John Dunlap, judge advocate for the Louisiana National Guard.

Davis has served in the military for 18 years. Conviction on all the charges against him could mean a dishonorable discharge and up to two years in jail, Dunlap said at a news conference Friday."

1. The Brass puts incredible pressure on the enlisted to bring in recruits
Usually, lifers (career military) have this job and at most have a high school diploma, if even that. For that reason, the recruiters do not have the training or finesse to make an honest sales job, so they revert to a "whatever it takes" scenario, lying about benefits, or as this article points out, fudging GED's.

He should not be prosecuted for a job that he is ill prepared to do, it should be the brass, and preferably the idiot-in-chief that should shoulder all the responsibility for this mess.
