Latino Cops Organization: Cambridge Police Acted "Stupidly"
Black Star News, News Analysis, Anthony Miranda, Posted: Jul 27, 2009

"We also agree that the officers acted “stupidly” in arresting a man in his own home for disorderly conduct. Police officers are held to a higher standard than the public. They are trained to de-escalate situations and to be more tolerant. The officer in question, an instructor of sensitivity, should have exercised more discretion between free speech and the necessary element of public alarm for disorderly conduct. "

1. They're saying exactly what I've felt all along.
Everybody knows the saying the customer is always right is wrong but it shows that workers should be held to a higher standard than those they deal with. All the comments I've seen about how Gates should've reacted differently only distract from the more important issue that police needs to act like professions at their job just like I and everybody else need to act appropriately at ours. If I abused my power at work nobody would ask somebody I mistreated to thank me. The same should go for officers.

3. I'm so proud of them for coming out with
this statement. Now, if only the A-A Cops Organization, if there is such a group, would come out with something at least similar. Thanks for posting!

Although we Latinos are KoolAid sippers. The last poll I read said something like 81% of us supported Obama. And if the Sotomayor hearings are any indication, nobody cares what we think.
