What in the world is going on at Daily Kos?
Apparently there's a dust up at Daily Kos over the banning of several black posters, some of whom were quite prominent. Of course, the vast majority of them were vocal Obama supporters.

"You know it had been my intention to not really discuss the place I learned to love to blog: The Daily Kos. It is no secret I was part of the great 2011 purge of Black contributors there that also caught up my fellow blogger and really good friend at The Peoples View ThisisMyTime. The last I heard over 30% of the Black participants of the Daily Kos were either disciplined or banned outright." http://www.thepeoplesview.net/2011/09/how-markos-moulit...

:wtf: :wtf:

"We all know that the typical reader of DK is older, white, and male. The Democratic coalition tends to be younger, more female, and includes many more people of color. DK does not look like the Democratic party It worries me greatly when powerful African-American voices are silenced on this blog. African-Americans are the most loyal members of the Democratic coalition. I want to take back the house in 2012. I do not want to be saying hello to President Perry. I would ask you, Kos, to rethink the withdrawal of rating privileges and silencing of so many members of the Black Kos community." http://www.dailykos.com/story/2011/09/09/1015141/-the-P...

Calls for a boycott:

"I am tired onto sleep of those claims that any criticism of the President is racist. I don't know of a single person who made that claim. The claim I and others make is that some of the things said are not about policy. It is racist to call the President "Uncle Tom" and 'ball-less" and insensitive to refer to black people who support this President as "kool aid" drinkers. Pointing out that black people died in that flavor aid incident is pooh-poohed.How insensitive."

...As for me, well I'm calling for a boycott of Daily Kos. A boycott by all black people, brown people and people who think that racial justice is something worth fighting for. If I could march with Dr. King in Cicero Illinois, I can surely withstand the slings and arrows of a blog with a laughable insistence that it is either about Democrats or Progressives. There are other places to go.

This site as far as I can tell is an example that segregation still exists. It exists in the real world. It exists on the internet. It exists on Daily Kos.

Beginning at midnight tonight. For a week. Just don't click.

Now run and tell that.

I will refrain from noting the obvious and painful similarities between what's happening there and what's happening on DU but these two sentences:

"One of my favorite people on this site has repeated often that on the Daily Kos being called a racist is worse than racism. Some things can be held self-evident." http://www.dailykos.com/story/2011/09/11/1015546/-Sista...

AND

"The leaders of Progressive space do not appear to be able to respect the words of Black people or accept their leadership, intelligence or even their honesty." http://www.thepeoplesview.net/2011/09/how-markos-moulit...

as well as the statements noting that the "liberal" blogosphere looks absolutely nothing like the Democratic party speak volumes.

4. I know
That's why I said I'll refrain from mentioning the gargantuan and endless similarities between what's going on at Kos and what's going on here at DU.

So many posters here have made the point "that here on DU, CALLING someone racist is worse than actually BEING racist." Raineyb made that point so many times. Apparently, black folks are saying the same thing on DKos.

And don't get me started on how the history and actions of MLK are completely distorted here. Apparently, he wasn't really a black rights activist. And it was his work on "labor" and "union" issues that got him killed, not his work trying to improve the lives of black people. I almost can't see straight when I see that shit. And apparently, the folks on Kos are seeing the same bullshit. I know that's why that brother put that MLK video after his article.

SistahSpeak touches on that here when she says:

"Don't get me started about a certain FP who regularly comes into diaries written by black people lecturing them on how they should phrase their posts and dismissing the notion that Dr. King's primary thrust was about racism."

Where does this shit come from?

7. Honestly, the only difference between DU and Kos is that Kos will ban
black posters. Here, the hatred is allowed to continue, courtesy of the ODSers. No matter how many anti-Obama, racist threads there are, very few if any are closed. Our protests are consistently ignored here on DU.

8. I agree 100%.
Unless a post or OP has the n-word or something really egregious like that in it, it'll stay open FOREVER.
