2. bass
im not sure id actually call this a bass, since its frequency range is so wide

the low C# string is an octave below the C# on the B string on a 5 string bass. the open high Ab string is equivalent to the 17th fret on the high E string on a guitar.

id love to try it out

Run for the hills! You just KNOW anyone who plays that is going to want a 1/2 hour bass solo in every song.

It's like a harp and a guitar had sex an this is their unholy union. I want to take a sledge-hammer to it! :)

9. Needs more knobs though
There's only 12 visible-- they need one more for balance: one knob per string, plus volume.

BTW where the fsck do you buy strings for that bastard? And how the hell do you get yr hands around the neck?!?!?!?

12. i believe SIT makes the strings
the person who owns this bass probably has to use a different technique to avoid injury.

i could imagine that a band with two of these and a drummer would be interesting, at least.

10. Looks more like a Chapman Stick

This is the 12-string model (the standard is 10 IIRC)

14. She's So Heavy
Do you know how much this baby weighs? I wonder how you'd adjust the neck -- if you could at all. By the apparent size of the pickup, I'd guess you'd have to "tap" a lot.

I'll admit I think it would be fun to test drive.

17. why not tune it chromatically
that way, you get one whole octave of bassy goodness, without even having to use your other hand.

A whole new generation of one-armed bassists could spring up, just like they did after that Def Leppard dude lost his arm.

Or it could give a whole new meaning to the phrase "bass wanker". Your mileage may vary.
