1. I can't believe this list is 2 years old.
It just shows you how behind I am in my FPS games. I recently got a new no-holds-bared system, and now I am playing catchup.

My quick reviews:

AVA-Alliance of Valiant Arms. Combat simulator with more types of rifles and sidearms available than you could ever need. Several are easy to recognize like the Uzi and the AK-47. Purchase different models with the points you earn or buy special tokens. Then you can modify them to enhance characteristics. Team vs team objectives. High speed combat. Hi-rez and FPS are a definite advantage. Very noisy.

Spiral Knights. Lost interest after the training level. Third person shooter, cartoonish, and a bit silly.

Global Agenda. I didn't think I would like it at first, but give it time, it kind of grows on you. After the action in the desert, you go back to Dome City to report, get a new mission, re-equip or hang out and watch the dancers. Head for the sound of the disco-techno music. ;) Kind of a roll playing FPS-MMO with 4 classes. You can try them all! Several types of operations. Game structure compels co-operation, like in RTCW-online.

Team Fortress 2. OK, but too cartoonish. Rather be playing GA.
