Just Cause 2...because Rico is just a lovable badass...
Folks, if you can get it....GET IT.

It's sweet. Neigh-Fully destructable environment, a million and one vehicles to commandeer, buy, and blow up (ever want to go on a tuk-tuk rampage?), a gigantic island nation to destroy and cause chaos in, and not a bad story line to go with it.

Not incredibly logical and the it sort of becomes a guerilla version of GTA 3 sometimes but DAAAAAAAMN...it gets fun. Nothing like stealing a gunship and razing the base that spawned it and knocking off a few enemy choppers on the way in.

We're not talking 8 hours of gameplay and it sits on your shelf. This one wins the YOY award for time consumption without yawns. A treasure usually only awarded to RPG games made by Obsidian, Bioware/Black Isle, or Bethesda.

I'm getting ready to play Dragon Age's Awakening expansion. Once I'm done with that, I may give this a try

3. PC I know. I can only assume X-box 360 and PS3.
Don't think Wii could hack it. Lots going on. Explosions, screaming, buildings falling, air/sea/road vehicles speeding, trees coming down, explosions, soldiers and people running, rockets going off, guns blasting, explosions...did I mention the explosions?

13. ATTENTION: This game ***REQUIRES*** Windows Vista or Windows 7.
It will not run under Windows XP.

This is the first time I've seen this as a requirement for a game.

4. I bought this last night
pretty cool. I like the open world aspect of it, though I accidently deleted my progress when I was figuring out how to actually get away from the mission without that countdown and instant death. So I need to start over again, then can get away from the missions, etc.

5. There is far more than I thought to it.
The island is gigantic and very diverse. The vehicles really come in all flavors.

6. I could spend weeks and weeks exploring the map
I just need to figure out how to save it so the PS3 doesn't force me to go BACK to the last mission save everytime I die while exploring.

7. PC Saves after every % change and mission completion automatically.
Just found a "town" called the "Mile High Club". Some clever devs there.

8. PS3 saves your progress after ever % change too
but if you die out exploring, even if you're clear on the other side of the map, it respawns you back at the house of the guy you rescue from the casino. Of course I haven't done any more official missions since I rescued that guy and gained complete map freedom. I did spend an hour last night attacking an air base from different angles, using the open world to avoid the searching helicopter and then draw it out to me where I could shoot it down. I love being able to attack the enemy forces, retreat back into the mountains when I get hit and then wait for the enemies to come into the forest after me where they can be ambushed.

9. Don't shoot it down! Hijack it!
Use your grappeling hook and get up there. Then shoot the co-pilot and enter the chopper.

Do it quick or your health will suffer. One you do...it's minigun madness!!!

10. haha, I was going for the Harriers taking off strangely in the middle of my attack.
Edited on Tue Apr-06-10 10:34 AM by charlie and algernon
Things are blowing up all over, yet planes are still spawning and taking off. :wtf:

I used the grappeling hook to jump on the back of the plane, then pulled the pilot out. I flew over to the LOST island, but didn't jump out in time after getting struck by lightining. I stole a boat and drove back over and explored all over that f-ed up island. I suppose those giant towers come into play later in the game? if they do, the enemy will find them unexpectedly devoid of men, LOL! :hide:

11. Those harriers are better for traveling and not so much for blowing shit up.

By the time you're ready to strafe and find a target you've passed it.

Those damn things will spawn even after the base is 100% blowed up...

14. heh, I'm now at the guerilla version of GTA
I've caused so much chaos that if the enemies even sniff of my presence I have a squad of elites chasing my ass around the map. So now I've turned into a guerrilla and am taking advantage of the triggered explosives, set them up, collect all the weapon and vehicle parts, then blow up the explosives as I'm leaving town.
