Funniest Games?
Which games or game series do you think made best use of humor?

For me:

Sam 'n' Max Hit the Road
Leisure Suit Larry Series (the first 2 or 3 before it got lame)
No One Lives Forever
Dungeon Keeper

1. Okay, this is an old one

It was for the Atari 2600 system...I think it was called Circus. It involved clowns and a teeter-totter. You would catch a clown on one side and shoot the clown on the other side up to pop the balloons. If you dropped the clown it landed on it's head and would wiggle it's feet.

Don't really know why but that game always made me laugh.

Cheers!

2. "You look like you need a monkey!"

I'll never forget that line.

I think Thief should be somewhere on that list, too.

3. Sam 'n' Max Hit the Road is a classic
LucasArts had a few good titles that would fit into the catagory of funniest from the early 90s.

Day of the Tentacle is another one I loved.

6. LiesureSuit Larry #1 "Land of the Lounge Lizards"....
by far. GroundBreaking.
I had to upgrade to a system with a "mouse" and a "soundcard" to play it!
Nothing else has come close!

Note the system requirements in the lower left corner!

7. Independence War was full of a very subtle humor.
Very intellectual as well. I fear that it was lost on most people.

9. Bad Mojo Redux.
It's gross, creepy and has its moments of shock, but that makes it funny on some level, too. Or maybe it's just my weird sense of humor.

Someone ripped all of Stampete's poems here:

12. Dig it.
I wish they had the game players comments as well.

In the game, any time you were driving around, you could hit your CBs mike and get Taurus to recit you one of those poems. He'd say his poem, and then your character would key the mike and say something like "Dig it" or "Far out." It was totally cheezy, and hilarious to do in the middle of combat.

Makes me want to dig that game out. Also reminds me I never played the sequel. Interstate '82, I think?

13. Interstate '76 was one of the BEST games of all time...
I only played the demo for I'82...wasn't as good.
But I'd love to crank up the funk and go kill some creepers.

14. What a great game
Waaay before its time. The cutscene animation was great--I remember thinking at the time how natural the characters moved and spoke, even though they had no mouths.

16. I still think an I'76 Movie would be cool.
There's only one man badass muthafucka enough to play Taurus, though. Mr. Samuel L. Jackson.
Johnny Knoxville as Skeeter
John De Lancie Does Mallochio again.

17. It seems no-one remembers Grim Fandango.
Ahh, the memories!

Such a wild cast, too - Papa Santo is one of my favorites. I still replay this game occasionally, even though it is now a decade(!) old.

18. I liked Grim Fandango. But I thought Sam 'n' Max was by far the best
entry from LucasArts. But I admit I never played Maniac Mansion or Monkey Isle.

23. LucasArts' "Armed & Dangerous" had a ton of potential.
Unfortunately, it was rushed out for a holiday release and arrived on shelves as an unfinished product.

I'm really disappointed in LucasArts... they used to be a quality gaming company. Now they mass produce/publish half-hearted Star Wars titles 24/7 and have completely abandoned their story/character-driven roots... what made them great in the first place.

25. N.O.L.F. 2: A Spy in H.A.R.M's Way
A level that has you riding on the back of a tricycle driven by an irate beefy Scotsman (kilt and all) pursuing and shooting a tommy gun at a French dwarf mime assasin riding a unicycle though the twisting streets of Bombay... It just doesn't get any more silly!

The cheesy French accordian music makes it even better!
