Is anyone else tired of the gamer bashing on DU?
Honestly, if I see one more condescending post exhorting young people to "put down the controllers and get involved", I don't know what I'd do.

Wait, I know, I'd pick up an Uzi and start randomly shooting people...damn GTA! :P

Is it somehow impossible for people to understand that it is possible for people to walk and chew gum at the same time? Maybe it's just the circles I run in, but pretty much every gamer I know is a committed pinko librul and is somehow involved (and most are under 30).

1. i see your point
but I also see theirs.

I agree with you more. One could just as easily make the argument that being immersed in sports is just as much a waste of time. In fact, being around dumb jocks all day pretty much is (I'm being sarcastic. . kind of).

On that note, though, I'm a Floridian so I'm used to Florida "bashing" here as well. For the most part I find FLorida bashing to be accurate, as well as hilarious.

2. Haven't seen those
But next time, post the link here. Because I'd be happy to chime in with "Quit jogging, get involved! Quit quilting, get involved! Quit gardening, get involved!"

3. i'd suggest using the purple double dildo instead.
style points, y'know.

meh, i've learned to let it go about older generations thinking all we do is play video games. i could point out their time sucking hobbies as well, but what's that gonna accomplish -- except feeling a bit better... ;)

5. In EverQuest 2, there is LOTS of anti-* discussion
I laugh myself silly when, in one of the server-wide chat channels like crafting or trading, someone starts up with some comment about *. Then, 5 or 6 other people will chime in and suddenly there's a lively discussion in a channel that was previously dead as a doorstop. Suddenly, one or two other players will start whining about the intended purpose of the channel and being tired of "spam". Seeing them get shot down with a quickness makes my day. Someone on my server is a major Chomsky fan.
