Just finished watching............
"Grapes of Wrath" on TCM...........I've seen this movie a few times in my lifetime. It was made the year after I was born. It has never affected me as it did tonight! I sat there and bawled through the whole movie!! I don't know if it's because I'm missing my folks who have gone on, or that I can remember some of that poverty from early childhood. I am guessing it's some of all, plus I'm much more of an empath now. It's been a weird evening for me. Three times I almost called 911 because I almost passed out while just sitting on the couch!! But then it would pass, so I don't know what's going on. It had the sensation of vertigo, but was only fleeting! Maybe my empathy was so strong, that I was getting these feelings just as if I were starving to death like the folks in the movie!! Let's hope this passes by tomorrow, but I'll take any vibes or light that's out there tonight!! LUV! JA

3. Hi! Yes I'm still up, but have had no further episodes ...............
Edited on Sat Aug-01-09 11:32 PM by JanusAscending
since the movie ended. I have had borderline hypo glycemia in the past. I had home made fish and chips for dinner tonight, and homemade cinnamon rolls for evening snack. Maybe my blood sugar crashed after eating them. I'll post in the AM. Kids are stopping by after church to pick up a chiminea I'm giving them for Aidan's BD picnic next weekend. I don't use it any more. Too many bugs in my yard from all the wet weather! Met a few garter snakes face to face today while weeding too! I'm getting over being startled by them, I leave them alone and vice versa!(also in reply to other post)!! Going to bed now. Nite NIte!

2. Are you OK now? Please post if you are awake or in the morning so we know you are OK
Hopefully it is just the emotions but near fainting is not a good thing! Do you ever get low blood sugar even if only on rare ocasions? If you can maybe eating a mini-meal with protein might help? Please do whatever you need to keep safe!

The energy has been wild and wooly for me today as well w/lots of emotions coming up, in my case mostly dealing with grief. It could be you were releasing past life trauma from lifetimes of starvation. I once did a series of regressions to try to clear that in me w/lifetime after lifetime of famines and famines combine with illness nearly killing or outright killing me. I always cringed with anxiety watching Gone with the Wind when Scarlett scarfed down that carrot only to retch it back up. While much better about portions than I used to be I still can't stand to feel hungry for long without inhaling whatever it is I eat next because the line between hungry and STARVING is still so thin.

4. What a powerful movie! I completely understand what you're saying, JA.
Some movies almost hurt to watch, but they're so important.

If you're still not feeling well tomorrow though, please consider getting checked out... just in case. OK?

6. It's me again!
Still feeling ok today, but I was wondering....has anyone ever had experience with what they call "mini strokes"??? I knew a few people who had a series of them over the years, before the actual stroke hit them. I vaguely recall someone writng about what it felt like to have one, and I think it was on this forum? I will be talking to my Dr. today. He usually calls me in the evening when he's done with his office hrs.
So I was wondering in the meantime if anyone had some insight. Love, JA

7. Good!
I don't know nothing about that but glad to hear you will talk to your doc about this. It may just be related to the sugar deal. Glad you are up and about today - drink plenty of water and let us know how it turns out!

8. Transient Ischemic Attack abbreviated as TIA, often colloquially referred to as “mini stroke”
caused by the changes in the blood supply to a particular area of the brain, resulting in brief neurologic dysfunction that persists, by definition, for less than 24 hours; if symptoms persist then it is categorized as a stroke.

A cerebral infarct that lasts longer than 24 hours, but less than 72 hours is termed a reversible ischemic neurologic deficit or RIND.

Symptoms vary widely from person to person, depending on the area of the brain involved. The most frequent symptoms include temporary loss of vision (typically amaurosis fugax); difficulty speaking (aphasia); weakness on one side of the body (hemiparesis); and numbness or tingling (paresthesia), usually on one side of the body. Impairment of consciousness is very uncommon. There have been cases where there has been a temporary paralysis of a part of the face and the tongue.

My MIL has had these before, she diabetic. The one she had when we were with her, (we were meeting at a restaurant, and my hubby and her were riding together) she experienced not knowing where she was, light-headedness, couldn't see, fuzzy images, colors looked funny, dizzy and stumbled into a wall, she walked off on her own before we could help her and she bumped her head. We drove her to the emergency room, where they ran test and admitted her.

If you experienced any of these symptoms you need to see the doctor immediately.
