At a crossroads--need your help!
I've been offered a new job. It is as an independent contractor, so no taxes are taken out. It starts at the same pay I have now, which, in fact, would be a pay cut. It is in a totally different field than I have been in before, so there is a lot of learning to do. Work where I am is stressful because my employer is not honest and I wind up catching a lot of flak from angry customers. My husband and my doctor (who recommended me for the new job) both want me to leave my current employment.

I went to interview last Friday and didn't get any feeling, good or bad, about changing jobs. I do start part time with training tonight after I get off work here. I'm hoping I get a better idea if I should take the new job or not then, but I'd GREATLY appreciate any impressions you have.

I'd be moving from the pest control field to the travel agency field (the agency has an international clientele, so I don't think our economy will effect it).

1. I know this is hard
but try to banish the fear, go in tonight and check it out, and see how it goes.
If you think you are going from frying pan to fire, don't leap. But if it feels comfortable, consider it.
I will be thinking good thoughts for you.
By the way, are you in Arkansas? Stella told me you were, I think. I live in Missouri, right across the line. Small world!

You can call me if you want me to pull some cards for you and look at your chart again anytime dear.

It feels really liberating for you to me. Sometimes we get cosmic carrots though. Just stay centered and don't forget to breathe. :)

PT-ayesha is really well networked in her area.

Hope you two get together at some point.

Though I used to be a quilter and adept seamstress, my vision is not what it used to be so I've fallen out of the practice, though my sister is strangely, an optometrist. I've never, at least in this lifetime been a knitter or a weaver.

Hope you don't mind that I ratted your locale out to PT.

34. I've been to the Fair in Fayetteville
and also to the ORI functions there. That's a group of dowsers and mystics. They have a lot of neat stuff at their headquarters, including a library, bookstore, and a light room, etc. They have guest speakers every month and they are going to have their convention in Eureka Springs next month. Google "Ozark Research Institute" to find out more.

And what do you think of Cyndy?

When I went to work today at the bug company, the boss lied about doing a service and made the customer so mad she quit us and demanded a refund. When I went to work for the travel agency, everyone was so nice and friendly and helpful! I came home energized. Tomorrow I get to answer phones while both of the ladies are out of the office--quite a bit of responsibility for someone who has worked there only a day.

Whatever you decide will be the right choice. I know you will trust your inner guidance.

On a practical note, should you decide to go the contractor route, be sure to bone up on the income tax ramifications. Keep all your expense receipts for EVERYTHING. You may need to file quarterly estimated taxes depending on the income bracket.

Also, I believe the travel industry is one of the fastest growing industries. It is recession proof. Would you get travel perks? As for the pest control field, I couldn't say.

You'll do the right thing

15. Incubate a dream about it.
Before going to sleep, repeat an affirmation along these lines (but in your own words): What should I do about the new Job? or How do I really feel about the new job?

Repeat this phrase over and over until it becomes a short version: How do I feel about the new job? How about the new job? About the new job?

Keep saying it till you fall asleep.

Record anything you wake with. Don't expect a definite yes/no answer. What you'll get is a picture of what to expect or what you actually feel about it at a gut level. You still have to choose.

Dreams usually cut out the middle man (our cs mind).

20. I'll try this tonight
but I may have gotten the answer last night. In the dream, I was in a new office--but with the old boss from the bug company. He had moved me from one building to another, and I was no longer in the old office. The new office looked like a house, which is interesting, because the travel agency is in a house.

30. This could be your answer, but it depends on how you feel about the new house.
Just on the surface it suggests that this might be just like the old place except for a homier environment (since your old boss has just moved you and he's still there), but the details of the dream and the feelings you had about the dream would tell the tale.

It does sound as if the home-y atmosphere is better than the old place.

How did you feel about the dream? Did the new house seem like a nicer place? Clean, orderly?

Maybe you're also getting a precognitive sense of what the new place will feel like when you move into it.

35. It felt good
and the rooms were made of white light, which to me always means something that is coming into existence on this plane.

I did ask for a dream last night, and got a very interesting one. I moved into a house owned by my spirit guide, who was living right across the hall. I helped him with a musical composition involving a violin and a sitar among other instruments, and joked with the musicians. My guide and I talked for quite a bit about all sorts of things--genealogy, old families, and we had the eye/heart connection very strong (I've experienced this in the flesh with a person who, interestingly enough, looks very much like my spirit guide). He appeared to be a bit tired, and I was trying to help him out.

I think that this means that I am following guidance and that what I am doing is helpful in the larger scope of things. I love having dreams about this fellow, though they don't come around all that often. But I do trust him, as he is the one who told me "something wonderful is going to happen" the day before I met my husband to be and fell in love at first sight.

It was significant that my guide was there, and we were getting closer again. At one point in my life, he was my teacher and the only guide I had. Through him I discovered the Sufi path--one that I had never heard of before.

16. Hi, ayes.
Arrived here late, and my issues tend to be 'practical.'

On what basis would you be paid, in 'new' job? Travel industry has become WAY complicated over last 30+ years.

Planning travel can be fun, but aggravating, too, depending on for whom. Business travel less 'fun' AND aggravating than 'discretionary,' because discretion allows people to change their minds, and they do so!

GOOD LUCK and peace.

22. Paid by the hour
the travel agency has clients all over the world, and only books cruises, working on commission, and this agent is one of the top ones in the country. So I don't think there will be a problem of getting paid.

Ironically, today at the bug company the tech called, worried because the boss keeps blowing off appointments and lying to clients. The tech is really worried that the business will fold. He told me that I would easily land a job doing bookwork for one of the other pest control companies! I didn't tell him I was already making a move to a different field altogether. But it was reassuring to know that he thought I could pick up work if I needed to.

I don't mean to pry, but I know a bit about travel/transportation industries. How do you know that the agency is one of the top in the country?

Do you know what, if any, effect was felt by agency, due to various 'sick ships' in recent years?

my husband looked it up online and found out a bit. Also, and this is more important imho, my doctor and good friend has known this woman for decades and knows she is an honest travel agent. In fact, it was Doc who recommended me to the agent.

38. All I can do is observe pros and cons.
For one it sounds like your present place of employment is toxic in more ways than one and so you'd do well to leave, for the sake of your physical and mental health.

OTOH things are getting expensive. Too bad you couldn't argue for a larger rate of pay, but the good news is that you won't be relying upon commission.

But health is so much more valuable than money.

I wish I could help more.

42. You have helped
I'm wondering if the present job is going to last, or if the business will go under. As for health--I'm living in my doctor's basement. I won't tell you the number of times she's come down and treated my husband or myself for various ailments for free. She takes a holistic approach which includes spiritual healing. And, Praise Be, my husband's medical needs are being paid for at the moment, which I find rather remarkable. He was diagnosed with Myasthenia Gravis in September, and was on SSD by December. He was able to get into this specialist this month and the MDA paid the bills, and will continue to do so on anything related to his neuro-muscular problems. Plus he sees a Doctor of Chinese Medicine who is helping him regain his source Qi. So we feel blessed in this.
