I wish we could sage DU.
So much sorrow and negativity. The ANS stuff really got to me in a way. So much vitrol and lowered energy. I expect some; but this was pretty bad stuff. Reminds me of the Steve Irwin threads.
Ideas?
I do love this site.

1. Take the weekend off ...
... seriously, sometimes it's best to just go away from DU until all the 'gunk' passes.

We'll be here when you get back. :hi:

3. What a great and funny and potentially powerful idea.
Maybe we could set up a time when a bunch of us can go onto either the home page or GD and burn sage around our screens (watch for ashes in the keyboard-maybe use a plate.)

Anyone else up for this experiment???

It could be interesting.

7. Gee thanks Dream
How generous of you.

But really I think we could go for the home page and the vibes might seep through the various forums.

And then those not so faint of heart could perhaps take on GD maybe.

We might want to do it regularly given what's ahead. Maybe we could shoot for the lunations or something. The New Moon in Aquarius would be a great time to start.

Not necessarily saging, specifically, but of many of us joining together to do something to rid DU of a lot of the negativity that's infested it these past few days.

I'd be up for doing something.

12. How about seeing DU surrounded by white light?
Edited on Fri Feb-09-07 04:00 PM by SeattleGirl
You may recall my story from a week or so ago, where I visualized seeing a friend of mine, who has been having a rough time and was feeling really down, surrounded in white light, and then feeling positive energy flowing from me to him. Shortly afterwards, he called me (hadn't heard from him in awhile), and he was sounding better. And he's been getting out and doing things, whereas before, he was just shutting himself in the house 24/7.

Maybe a bunch of us could try that, at a specific time (or times, as it may be difficult to get everyone together at the same time), and give that a try.

I love DU, but I'm very disturbed at what's been going on lately, with all the anger, and attacks, and such. Not here in this forum, of course, which is why I find myself coming here more and more, but in GD and even in the Lounge.

Yesterday was SUCH an ugly day in both forums, I had to just stay away from them.

I have all these projects I want to tackle.
Some crochet and knitting.
And then my jewelry making.
I am in a mood for new things.

I just threw out all my dishes, they were ancient.
And was able to put together a quirky new set from the discount stores.
All Japanese style. Very unusual looking shapes. My husband says how is he supposed to eat off of these plates, the food might fall off :)...
I told him the Japanese do it, so can we....

Two sides of the same coin.

I even see it in the Lounge, or Religion/Theology a lot. I thought progressive meant tolerance - not taking the belief as your own, but at least letting others have theirs. None of this 'my way or the highway'.

I was wrong. :-(

32. I often wonder in relation to manifestation when I see
Edited on Fri Feb-09-07 09:13 PM by rumpel
all the posts that are negative (including sometimes myself). This pertains to not particularly posts with vitriol but just in general - statements

such as: We are going to invade Iran or * is going to drop an A-bomb on Iran etc.

I find there is also quite a bit of "I am right about my speculation, no matter what others say or think"- type posts. Which to me indicates a closed mind, so I have nothing to add (maybe that is not a good thing either)
And yet it is human nature, albeit perhaps at a lower vibration, out of which we all (here) are trying and learning to get out of.

On the ANS issue I have not read much here on DU at all. But in general a death like that - is a health concern, and the media should present it as such. I personally am interested to learn what happened, especially in light of my daughter's weight problems. That, to me, is of public interest, and may in fact prevent other similar deaths. As such, perhaps it is one part of her life's purpose towards the masses.
But the sensationalism by the media of all her legal problems and now with her child, a private matter, is the culprit of many wanting to comment - and negatively at that.
None of the TV viewers or DU posters can resolve the problem for the ones directly involved.

In the macro sense, is it just a reflection of the most difficult lessons in life; not to judge? - then I think, are we trying to portray ourselves in a better light than others, or are we trying to impose our own morals and ethics onto others by making negative statements? Then again, is that how we collectively shape, and constantly change our collective morals and ethics? If so, I truly hope for the better.
But in the micro sense on ANS I'd say I will judge, and say her private stuff is none of, at least, my business.

When I think about the response from the Hick's, which votes posted on the Secret thread, I can just say how amazing these people are and I admire them. I would be a long way from writing such a response. When I imagine were that incident discussed on GD, I suspect there would be plenty of comments attacking both sides.

Practicing emptiness is a most difficult feat....especially at a time when we see soo many wrongs

I read that thread in GD by helderheid and saw what was getting thrown at you and Maya's words came to me. That person was going to go after someone regardless of who it was. You just happened to be one of his targets.

I can't understand why people, if they don't agree with something being posted, either post their own opinion or move on. But to attack the integrity of others continueously is bizarre.

I have kept a distance from GD this past week because of all the negative energy. It has been a strange week.

41. Finally, the perfect opportunity has arisen!
Since I'm a relative newcomer to DU, I'm still feeling my way around here. Many surprising revelations have occurred about my fellow posters (not in this area, but in others). I figured everyone would be tolerant of all the Democratic presidential candidates, because we're all in the same party, right? No-o-o-o. And I thought most everyone would only reply to comments if they agreed or wished to add something to the original poster's thoughts. No-o-o-o. And since most of the people who post here are highly intelligent and well educated, I assumed they'd be very tolerant of views that oppose their own. Well, sometimes that happens.

And one guy called himself a troll, but I didn't know what that meant. As I read more of his posts, however, I pretty much guessed the definition of troll.

Too many Bushie years, I guess, and too much war, and as 2008 approaches, it's just too much for some of them.

Anyway, I'm loving reading everyone's input about this. It helps.

44. Oh yeah-I had somebody chewing my butt over a POLL in GD.
A couple of folks made jokes about somebody being cranky and needing to drink coffee out of one of our "Ooga Booga" mugs and I suggested that the ignore feature might be a good option... Pretty much the usual fare from GD, I think (however the support is nice--thanks guys!)

People's collective knickers are in a bunch it seems like. I'm not terribly fainthearted, however, so I just keep on turning up.

Don't let the assholes get you down, lildreamer!
