Has America turned into the epitome of Mars

Our country used to be the bread basket of the world. We used to grow enough food for everyone, now we make enough bombs to annihilate the world several times over. Has PNAC become a reality? Has the new world order begun with the US taking it's place as the angry, controlling arm on the the body of the planet?

As above so below and what you think about expands, two catch phrases that seem to indicate some very powerful forces are thinking about and creating some very negative events.

I'd like to free myself of their thinking and creating and leap into the nurturing country we're supposed to be.

I wonder if we can push us through this phase with minimal damage and change our direction. Perhaps we all need to see what happens when the ego is overfed and humility ignored. The leaders of the country are leading us into aggressiveness that will only attract more of the same.

I pray for and visualize an enlightened community, ever expanding into the far reaches of every heart so that intelligence and love permeate the archetype of madness.

1. I'm glad you brought this up, ob.

This is a searing question which has been on a lot of peoples' minds these past few years. Especially thinking people, or anyone who is even a little bit evolved.

What on earth has happened? What has become of this country? Are we now the world's biggest terrorist, a rogue state?

And even more importantly, what can we do about it? Can we take back our country from the maniacs at the wheel, or will we go down as yet another Empire that failed?

After 6 years of seriously pondering this problem, here is what I have come up with -

1) First of all, you mention that we USED to be the bread basket of the world, and we shared with everyone, now things have changed drastically. The real truth is that this country has not been as benevolent as we might have seemed. This is an illusion, and this was one of the hardest things for me to accept. We have done TONS of bad things all along, even while we have given....We've just become gradually more and more corrupt. We are still a net exporter of agricultural goods, though.

2) Bush and Cheney are acting as Shiva the Destroyer. They are taking things apart.....but it's not what you might think. They are in fact taking apart the US American Empire. They are breaking it down, by breaking down the government itself through corruption and cronyism. Why? Because it's become a destructive force. When the ashes have settled, a new United States will emerge like a Phoenix from the ashes. We will see a humbler, more understanding US, able to empathize with our brothers in other countries.

3) What should we be doing in the meantime? Pick some values and ethics that work for you. Just hold on to them, and ignore what the corrupt politicians are doing. If you just hold on, you will come out of this OK.
