How do your spirit guides/angels visit you?
Edited on Sun Aug-14-11 11:18 AM by MorningGlow
There must be a million different ways, I'm sure. I was just thinking about this because, after more than a month of no dreams (that I remember, anyway), over the past couple of days I've had very vivid dreams that have stayed with me long after I woke up. These dreams seem to have a running theme of people close to me, visiting to help me through rough patches. But they bear no resemblance to anyone in my real life. In my first dream a bunch of women friends/neighbors (like the Desperate Housewives group LOL) came over and we all sat around my dining room table eating leftover cake and talking things through. In my real life I don't have any close women friends in my neighborhood.

Last night I dreamt that my "brother" came to my house and relieved me of a burden that was weighing heavily on me. And it was so comforting to sit on the back steps of my house with him, hugging him and telling him about my problems and fears. But this person wasn't my brother (I do have one IRL)--he was younger than me (IRL my brother is 15 years older than me) and kind of looked like a boyish, muscular Steve Carell.

So I'm getting the feeling that these people were my spirit guides or angels showing up to remind me I'm not alone even when I feel like I am. Dreams are the easiest ways to get through to me lately. And I appreciate that. So--how do yours visit? :hi:

1. They invade my thoughts.
I don't really know how to explain it but sometimes I act on a thought that I realize after the fact was spirit intervention.

Inspiration when I'm in an alpha brainwave state, doing something mundane, like taking a shower or doing the dishes or folding the laundry.

2. dreams...eh?
ok twin, my dreams have been really wild the past few days too...;)

as for spirit guides, i think i see them a lot in the animal world. being in the wilderness, i get visitations and comments from a myriad of animal guides...and some times i know it is really 'for me' because they either come very close, swoosh thru my yard, or catch my attention out of the corner of my eye...or i will notice them in groups. like the raven, coyote and bear will all visit in the same day or even sometimes literally one right after the other... that makes me wake up and pay attention.
sometimes it is the meaning of the animal totem itself that is meant for me...sometimes they come by to 'wake me up' and make me pay closer attention to my life and what's going on...and the next phone call will be someone important to the question or answer.

that's all i can think of right now...i know there's more...need coffee!

Okay not really. :P

Love animal guides! Wish I was out in the wilderness more often--I miss that about our last house that was out in the woods. (Don't miss anything else about the place, though. x( )

3. I have an odd spirit guide.
It's my first wife Janice, who passed over about 15 years ago. Or more properly, it's the oversoul of my first wife, who now takes on the persona of Janice to communicate with me. She used to come only during meditations or visions, but now she's there any time I turn my attention in her direction. She's always laughing - either with me or at me - and offering encouragement and confirmation.

What is very unusual is that Janice, my reunited partner and I all knew each other in real life in the '70s when I was still married to Janice. At the time Janice's soul contract job was to keep me and my TF apart until we were ready. The three of us are all of the same soul family.

Multidimensional reality gets complicated very fast...

7. How cool, GG
Yes, multidimensional reality sure is a brain twister! What's great is that you recognized the loving mission your first wife had in your life. :) I'm continually amazed at the many roles our soul families play in our lives. It really hit home for me when I was coping with my last boss, whom I DESPISED...and then I had a dream where we were sitting around laughing, the absolute best of friends. It was then I realized what I saw in my dreamstate was our real relationship, and that he was an antagonist to me in this lifetime in order to push me to be better in my career and move me along to my next phase (so I wouldn't stay at that job for too long).

9. What a great story!
Yes, since all major growth seems to come from pain, it helps to look on our antagonists as our teachers. Plus it keeps us from killing them...

12. LOL I can't say I'd honor the divine in him if I saw him again
even though I know his true role in my life now!

In fact, I saw my other antagonist (the department VP) on the first leg of our flight to California in June, and the sight of him still riled me up. Such a visceral reaction! (For the record, he dodged me, but I approached him...and DIDN'T kick him where the sun don't shine!)

I've not had one. It refers to two people who love and compliment one another. Glider can probably explain it quite well.
I just figured out what TF means because I've seen him and others talking about "twin flame". I listen to a show at
truthfrequencyradio.com and the host always introduces 'Sheree', his twin flame, at the start of every show.

28. Sorry I'm late - I just saw your question. Here's my explanation of Twin Flames
The easiest way to explain it is that Twin Flames are one soul who has decided to experience this lifetime through two bodies.

Sometimes the purpose of that split is so that the soul can have two completely different sets of experiences in the same time line. If that's what is going on, the twin flames may not even meet in this incarnation. Instead they take back their individual experiences and are re-united "afterwards". While they are incarnated they may not even realize their twin is in the world at the same time.

Then there is the "Union in Love" aspect of Twin Flames. It starts off the same way - the soul splits in two, and enters two bodies that come into the world at different places (though at approximately the same time). As in the previous situation, the two personalities follow separate life-streams. At some point, however, they come together physically and this is where the magic takes off.

There is usually a strong sense of instant recognition. As they connect they may find that their lives have followed symmetrical paths. They may have very similar personalities in some (but not all) ways. They will find their core values are identical. They are usually awakened to a fair degree, because that seems to be a precondition for the reunion to occur (you need to love yourself first, and to do that you have to work through your shit and wake up). There may be telepathy. They may feel a strong desire to make some form of spiritual contribution to the world. Their bond feels sacred, and they see the divine clearly in each other. Their love is utterly unconditional, to the extent that it doesn't feel like love in the traditional sense, but more like simply Being One. Once they have joined they never want to be apart, and this can lead either to bliss or tragedy.

Twin Flames in history include Elizabeth Barrett and Robert Browning, Pierre and Marie Curie, Heloise and Abelard, Clara and Robert Schumann, Harriet Taylor and John Stuart Mill, Lillian Steichen and Carl Sandburg, and The Mother and Sri Aurobindo.

We are deeply blessed.

15. Great topic!
First, I have to be willing to notice and not write things off as "just nothing".

The still small voice has happened to me in times of great indecision and distress. I have had dreams that had great meaning with lost loved ones and people I don't know.

For the past year and 1/2 I have experienced encounters with what I have to call animal guides; a dream about my beloved cat from years ago, I saw a shadow dog on the morning before a quick chain of bad events that would end in my husband becoming rather ill and being hospitalized, I seem to see crows circling overhead constantly at times, and one evening at dusk early in the spring I encountered two black dogs that looked like the physical representation of the shadow dog I had seen before. The last experience was quite physical and I touched the dogs and tried to read the tags on one of them to try to find the owners, but he wouldn't let me, he just pushed his nose into my face when I made the attempt to look, then they both left and wouldn't respond to me calling for them. I have not seen dogs that match their description before or since in my neighborhood and I run/walk 3 miles a day there with my own pooch. Since the encounter with those two my life has been gradually improving after a period of rather dark events.

I just realized that all the animals I have seen as guides in some way are black. Including my deceased cat and my present dog (mostly).

16. Dreams, thoughts, and
(this is the weirdest one) waking me up by calling my name! Also, it's always loud, yet not shouting. I've had one even tap loudly on the window over my bed (it's on the second floor, so no chance of it being kids or a neighbor), waking me up. In that one, I went to the front door to see if someone was there! lol

Most of the time, it's through my thoughts, often by me just striking up a conversation wherever I'm at. They do show up in meditation, so another form of thought-contact :)

I like your stories, too. I am getting the impression that some might be relatives and friends from other lives or existences, especially the one about your brother. Do you get that feeling or is it different from that?

17. One of my guides is very specific about his presence.
Whenever I smell lemons and there are none in sight I know Hamish is around. Sometimes there is a message. Sometimes he's just hanging out with me. Always, he brings me joy and mirth, and never leaves until I am laughing.

20. Three ways I get messages
MG, I have a "women's council," kind of like what you've described in your first paragraph.

I've had meetings with them for a long, long time. Not often, but mostly at times when I'm worn out and weary of my mission here on earth. They are wise souls and wear white gowns with gold ties at the waist. These dreams/meetings always leave me highly emotional, and just thinking about them, I feel a higher energy vibration as I think about connecting with them. On some occasions, they've "patched me back up" and sent me back to the world, reinvigorated.

From these meetings, I know about numerous people who were or are now in my life. One is a former professor I had in college. Yet another is a friend who is also a real estate broker and who found me my house. The house is an important part of my life and has been part of the interaction with me and this group of wise souls ever since we started interacting. We've had meetings in the house (2nd story).

Both of the people I mention above were pivotal in my life. They provided direction and my life would not be what it is now without that direction.

These dreams are very, very vivid and I can remember every moment of them. It is like they are etched on the inside of my skull. They are very important to me and I think about them often.

I read your post several times and I think that you are right about the visitors in your dreams being your spirit guides who are appearing to help at this time. I love how the "brother" appeared. He's not your brother, but he's your brother! :)

==============

On this next one, I'm not sure if it's my "higher self" or a guide. I think the latter, but my girlfriend, with whom I talk about these matters a lot, thinks it's my higher self. I actually hear a voice. It just talks to me like it's there with me. It's often about somewhat trivial matters, too, but a lot of times they are important. Here are some examples:

Within the last few years, there was that actress Beatrice-something-or other who was in that sitcom ("Golden Girls!" I just remembered it.) Anyway, she died. I can't even remember her full name because she's not a favorite actress of mine. Well, one day I was staring out the window and the voice (I feel like a lunatic saying that!) said, "Beatrice so and so is going to cross over soon." And then in a day or so, she died.

Another one was when my neighbor's old dog died. I looked out the window and the dog was outside. The voice said, "Only a couple more days left for her." And then she crossed over.

Here's one that doesn't sound important, but it was to me. On my way home from the university, there's a stretch where this cop likes to hang out in hiding. One time he stopped me and accused me of running a red light. I knew it wasn't red; it was yellow and I insisted it was yellow. He knew he was pushing it and he backed off because I was so definite about it being yellow.

Well, numerous times on my way home I found him hiding beside a vacant building or in other spots. Everybody traveling that stretch knows about him.

Then he wasn't around for a long time and I sort of forgot about him. Guess he must have been staking out other spots.

I was driving home on that stretch and before I crossed the overpass, the voice said, "Watch out as that cop who bugs you is straight ahead." I slowed down (yeah, I was speeding) and sure enough, I went over the overpass and there he was, hiding beside the vacant building.

I was really happy to get that help as I have never had a speeding ticket or any kind of moving violation in my whole life. I am hoping to get to the end of my driving career with a record clear of tickets.

-------

Another way I get stuff is kind of like an email message sent to me in my head.Today I acted on one. The message was to go to a certain store and a lot of things I needed would be there. So I went today and spent two hours at the store. I got about 9 things I needed and the best part, is they were having a 25 per cent off sale, so I was able to get everything at an excellent price.

So to sum up, I have my council of higher, guiding spirits, and I have this voice. And then the email message in my head thing.

25. Hard to say
Only rarely do things like this "personalize" with me. But I assume it is the same thing when I get a *brilliant* idea out of the blue. I assume that is when some people say that something is "given" to them, which, to my ears, sounds a bit strange.
