Are there ANY benefits to having Saturn in the tenth house?
I'm really trying to think more positively about my personal astrological issues, but here's one major, inescapable concern I've been struggling with lately: I have Saturn in the tenth house. I'm told by many that this is actually one of the worst placements for Saturn generally, and it bodes especially ill for any person who wishes to have some form of material or worldly success. I don't need to be world famous or have fame in the traditional sense, I don't even need mammoth financial success or much "success" at all, but I wouldn't mind leading a relatively secure life, (I'm a Taurus with a Moon in the second house) and to eventually be recognized for my accomplishments. I keep hearing from astrologers that Saturn in the tenth is going to make these desires extremely difficult to achieve. I'm actually not the kind of person who thinks an astrological profile restricts a person's choices and opportunities, exactly, but the more I try to look at astrology as a general predictor of what may happen or how astrology may predispose a person to certain conditions or circumstances, I discover other things about myself that make it hard for me to believe much of what will happen to me hasn't already been "decided" as reflected in my natal chart. If there's anyone who wants to hit me with the "plus" side of having restrictive, confining Saturn in the tenth house, (in a general sense, I'm not asking for a free interpretation of my entire astro profile) that would be great. If anyone cares, it's in Leo.

1. You've been misled.
Saturn in the tenth is in its natural house. It rules the tenth. The only stress is the fact that it is in Leo. Saturn rules Capricorn/10th house. It is naturally inconjunct(150 degrees)Leo. This is a stressful aspect and frequency for the energy of Saturn to operate within.

Saturn likes to remain within a protective outer shell. It is cautious and does not trust easily. It is fearful of change and resistant to new ideas that haven't been proven or are untraditional in nature. Although social, it is usually within the accepted social traditions. Conformity is the standard by which Saturn operates. There is also maturity, protectiveness and the desire to be looked on as someone with authority. Now, apply the energy of Leo to this mix.

Your Saturn is being asked to express itself more openly. To embrace change and live by your own inner need to actualize yourself within the society at large. To live by the beat of your own drummer. To stroke your own ego and not look to others to do so. To conform to your own vision of who you are and to project that into the world at large. Make a splash in the big societal pond. To be a mature, protective mother lion to the society you find yourself in. And the removal of the protective shell to allow for the natural warmth of the Leo love for life to be seen and felt by all of those you come in contact with. Creative endeavors such as art, drama, acting/performing are ways to make a mark in your particular society. Any form of self-actualization and the expression of self are forms this energy is to express itself. You are to bring to light your natural authority in whatever you do. You can become a respected voice or authority in whatever form of expression you choose. Be it in business, you will have a creative flair. In art, an uncommon depth. Writing, deep insight and the voice of authority. You are not to keep your light under a bushel. This is where the natural fear of Saturn can cause problems. Leo energy flies in the face of all that is Saturn. It can be stressful and a great source of personal anxiety to try and live by Leo rules of conduct. There can be a great deal of self-doubt and uncertainty in social situations. A fear to engage in anything that could bring attention to oneself(even though there is a great desire to do so).

So get out there and shake the world! You are more than you know(or you know and are just afraid to act).

I'd say its pretty darn good...

I can relate to the protective outer shell thing...but I'm not so sure about the resistance to new ideas that haven't been proven or are untraditional in nature. (But that may be my Aries parts LOL)

Definitely live by the beat of my own drummer....

Not a need for me to go out & make a name for myself...just want to do the work...but yeah, I suppose a little recognition now & then isn't so bad

So, hows things with you leanin_green...it HAS been awhile!

6. I hope I can stand up to Saturn in the second house --
in Libra.

Never have a cent. No matter how much I make. It always seems to be the same.

maybe it means I don't care enough about money to handle it responsibly?

Oh, well, also seems to be a family theme.

I have put eights everywhere. Nothing doing.

I work my butt off, always have. Husband hardly ever works. Never can catch up, much less get ahead. Any words of wisdom?

9. You have to remember something about Saturn.
Wherever it places itself in the chart means that there are definitive tasks to be done within the frequency distortion of that house. Saturn is a task master and the Lord of Discipline. There will be limitations and restrictions within the themes of any house. In the second, financial discipline, restriction and lack until the necessary lesson of financial responsibility and the limits of money are learned. It's difficult with Saturn in Libra. Libra wants to have a good time, mingle with people, be the social butterfly, which can cost money. Libra also, in it's more negative manifestation, deals with issues of co-dependency. Are you looking to others to supply what you need? Are your needs being listened to by those close to you or yourself for that matter? Saturn here can teach you a great deal about the nature of needs vs wants. Saturn asks you to look deeper within yourself in order to become more mature, self-contained and the largest lesson of the second house, what you truly value, need and rely upon in the nature of relationships(Libra). The overall theme of the second house is that of "self-reliance." Saturn can help you become more independent and self-sustaining when in this house.
