has the BP catastrophe hit Maine?

For 7 years I've been graced with the presence of my property's hummingbirds. They usually arrive so early I worry that there's nothing for them to eat. Some of you may remember last year, when Mrs. Hummer got caught in my barn several times and I tried to lure her out with a red tulip hung by the doorway.

The red tulips have long since bloomed and died. The catmint has been in bloom for several weeks. I'm up early and have been watching for them for weeks. I checked a migratory map with calendar. They should have been here a month ago.

There has been no sign of them. I'm afraid they may have gotten caught in toxic fumes while crossing the gulf. :cry: :cry: :cry: :cry:

1. I'm hoping cool weather..

Here in the south, we have had a long, cool (yes, I loved it) spring. It is just now getting warm. I have family in SC and sometimes it was even cooler there! Go figure. Anyhow, that's what I'm hoping. Because you are right..birds feel enviornmental changes first.
