Go Berkeley!
Eden James is the Oakland DFA Meetup Host for East Bay for Democracy.

It was apparently quite a night collectively for our DFA Meetups!

After our Steering Committee expended a great deal of time and energy organizing it, 96 people showed up to the Oakland Meetup—the largest gathering we've ever had (even at the peak of the Dean campaign)!

And, in addition to Oakland City Councilwoman Jane Brunner, one of the Meetuppers was some professor from UC Berkeley named George Lakoff.

Although he didn't plan to speak because he didn't want to influence the re-framing exercise, we convinced him to answer questions for about 30 minutes following the activity. What a treat, to say the least.

And due to the incredible generosity of several Oakland Meetuppers towards Tsunami Disaster Relief, a grand total of $1007.14 was raised for Oxfam America's relief efforts in South Asia. What a night!

Cheers,
Eden (on behalf of James, Mary, Jason, Amy, Herb, Sharon, Jak, Jennifer,
and Terry—our phenomenal Steering Committee)

I love CA DFAers. They are so enthusiastic. 96 at a meet-up..that is more than our DEC.
