4 feral kitties
Edited on Thu Jul-07-05 10:48 PM by newsguyatl
i was taking my litter box to the dumpster tonight, and i saw a little feral kitty nearby... i tried calling it and it came up to me, though very skiddishly... then, two others came out from hiding... then a FOURTH came out...

i went back inside to get some food, but by the time i came back outside of my complex, they were gone... so i left some cat food and some cat milk out tonight near where i saw them...

i'm hoping i can maybe start feeding them for the next few days and try to capture them and take them to the humane society... the three i saw decently up close were beautiful... one appeared to be a siamese mix. i'd guess they were about 6-8 months old... they'd no doubt get adopted in a heartbeat.

poor things looked emaciated... i live in downtown atlanta, so it's not the safest place for them...

i hope they'll return :-(

if they do, and i can get pictures, i'll post.

1. got pics!!!
so i checked one more time before i went to bed and they were out there... they're all very skiddish, but warmed up the more food i gave...

they're so cute, but they're sick -- two had eye infections, they were sneezing, and 3 were pretty skinny... i hope i can get them to the humane society soon... the little siamese is gorgeous... and so is the little grey one with the white face...

here are some pics, enjoy!

2. beautiful cats!
Thanks for taking responsibility for them.

By feeding them, I'm sure they will start trusting you so you can get them to the humane society. I hope it's a no kill place.

9. Check petfinder for no kill rescues first
some will come out with Havaheart traps and catch them for you. A cat like that Snowshoe (Siamese) wouldn't last at our rescue long; we get requests for them all the time!

7. People who go out of their way to rescue stray cats...
...go a long way to justify humanity's existence.

(And, yes, I am referring to a previous poster on this thread in particular...as well as anyone else who has done so.)

4. Please do not take them to the humane society unless
it is a no-kill shelter. Because they are all sick and emaciated, they will be put down. Try to find a rescue group. And don't think they will get adopted in a heartbeat. There are so many cats in the shelters that do not get adopted.

5. i'm pretty sure it's a no kill shelter
but i'll doublecheck...

the siamese i'd at least love to get a good home for b/c i know he'd get adopted, and he didn't look sick -- just a little skinny...

6. I post to a lot of Yahoo animal rescue groups here in Georgia.
I found homes for three kittens that were dumped in my yard through one of the local groups. If you will PM me all the info about the kitties and contact info for yourself, I'll put the word out. I can't guarantee anything, but there may be a rescue that will take them.

10. Damn it, I bet those cats were dumped.
They are too friendly to be born feral.

12. I agree, I bet someone dumped them
they don't look that emaciated, and they look older. How can people be such buttheads??

13. Any new developments on the cats?
I wish we could take on some more, but we have kept 5 "found" cats already. Maybe once we move into a condo, we'll adopt another one.
