My friend, companion and best dog ever just passed away.
I know this is a sad and tragic time for many and on a much higher level, but my heart is breaking right now and I can't seem to stop crying. Cammy dog was a part of our lives for 13 years and though I fully understand that's very old in human years and longer than many pets live, it's still a terrible blow to lose her. She was such a great dog--rescued from a humane society when just a puppy and tagged as "part pit bull", so I wasn't quite sure what to expect. But she had the sweetest nature, loved everybody and never hurt one single thing in her entire life. When she got her hackles up she could be kind of scary-looking to folks, but they had nothing to fear.

I shall miss my Cammy. I hope the Rainbow Bridge is a real place and that I will be with her again somewhere, sometime. I can hardly wait to feel her loving licks and see her happy smile again.

1. I'm so sorry
Cammy sounds like a very sweet companion. I'm sure she is playing happily with the others who have passed on and when the time come you will see her again.

4. Thanks so much for your kind thoughts and the hug!
And for helping me think of my Cams as playing with others, just like she always did until recently. Somewhere inside her, I knew there remained that joyous puppy who lived and loved so well. Knowing I will see her again is the most comforting thought of all right now.

Blessings!

2. I'm so sorry classof56
 and  for your family too. Cammy sounds like a real sweet heart. I hope memories of all the happy times you had with her will help ease the sadness you feel today. Here is a poem that gave me some comfort when I lost my Ranger on Valentine's Day 2003. He was almost 16 years old.

The dreaming mind recalls past impressions.
It sees again what has been seen; it hears
Again what has been heard, enjoys again
What has been enjoyed in many places.
Seen and unseen, heard and unheard, enjoyed
And unenjoyed, the real and the unreal,
The mind sees all; the mind sees all.

5. Thanks so much for your kind thoughts and hugs--and the poem.
It is beautiful and I just printed it off. What a lovely reminder that life is lived on two levels--the moment and the memories. I will never forget how excited Cammy always got when it was time to go for our daily "walkie" to our favorite field. When she just wasn't up for it awhile back, I knew there was something very wrong. I'm sure your Ranger was no doubt a walking/hiking companion, too. What a treasure our pets are, and how they enrich our lives. While I can't seem to stop crying, I know that Cammy is worthy of my tears.

Thank you again and blessings!

3. I am so sorry.
There is no higher level than that of a dog's love.
You were both very fortunate to have loved each other.

6. Thank you! This is one of those times when I'd like to be "beamed up"
But I know things will get better over time. Thanks for making me understand that I have been fortunate to have experienced the highest level of love, from my sweet Cammy! We had carried her out to the lawn where she loved to lie in the sunshine and that's where she slipped quietly away from us. I hope she knew how much I loved her!

Blessings!

7. I'm so sorry and I know what you're going through
had my Rocky for almost 18 years and I still couldn't stop crying after he left me. It's just never long enough. The only thing that helped was getting my two new dogs.

Sorry friend. You have my deepest sympathy. R.I.P. Cammy.

12. Thank you and blessings to you. Your name leads me to think
you now or at some time lived in Oregon--the Rogue Valley is one of the most beautiful areas of my home state. My Cammy dog was born in the Willamette Valley and lived her whole life there and in Eastern and Central Oregon. Of course, she lives on in my heart wherever I am, so wherever I travel in OR, I will see and remember her.

Thanks for your understanding. I'm still pretty much a basket case, but time heals wounds and memories help sustain us. Right now my house just seems so empty!

22. I grew up in Central Point near Medford.
My babies in the sig line, the one sitting up died in March. I thought I would die. But it gets easier. It takes time. But it will get easier, honey. Take care and hugs and thoughts with you.

13. There's only one way out of here.
There's only one way out of here.

These words have been going through my mind, lately. I am quite bothered that nothing lasts forever. And I look at my cats. And I look at my parents. And I think about those friends who are no longer here. It can be very saddening. Hopeless, even. But then I began to realize that it happens to ALL OF US. This thing that is a total mystery is so common that it happens to all of us. I don't mean to sound trite about any of this. I just happen to be poised on the edge of life. Waiting. And maybe there is an answer. It could just be that there is a surprise waiting on the other side of what we don't understand. Right now all we can do is be happy for what we had. And wait for what we might have again.

May you find peace without your friend, for now.

19. I'm very sorry
The fact that your pet is "just an animal" never helps much. Any loss is a loss of a family member, no matter how long your friend is with you in this life. I hope you can take some comfort in the happiness you gave her. You and Cammy are in my thoughts.
