I love having kittens around
We brought in the three that the outside cat had to get them civilized before they go to their new homes. They've taken over the house chasing each other and playing, charging sideways with their fur fluffed out.
The older house cats don't want anything to do with them, but, they won't be here but a couple of days. They've already got the litter box figured out and they've been getting solid food for several weeks, so they'll be good to go in a few days.
I just like having them here to watch them rip around and cavort, mom has a date with the vet, this is her first and only litter.
It just makes me feel good having them for now.

1. Become a foster "parent"
I have 1-4 kittens here all the time these days. Shelters and rescue groups need fosters more than they need donations. Kittens keep you young :-).

So was momma spayed? Gotta share some pics of the little ones soon!

4. Do you worry about exposing your guys/gals to
possible URI, etc? I have thought about fostering, but think I am a neurotic momma, I worry that my tow guyz might come down with something from a foster. Am I heartless?

5. I fostered while having two older cats of my own.
If you have a room in your home that you can dedicate only to the fosters, the risk to your own cats will be small. I never let them interact.

In my last house I had a heated/cooled office in the detached garage. It was perfect for fostering mamas and their kittens.

The biggest problem is fleas.

6. LOL
it reminds me of when a cat I was fostering had kittens in my closet-- I lived in a 2 room apt. and with those kittens ripping around I was forced to sleep out on the porch for a couple of months. Otherwise Id be constantly awakened by all the nocturnal shenanigans. People I knew thought it was quite remarkable that I lived outside while the cats ruled the apartment! One of the kittens is a 14 y.o. gal now, she still lets me hold her on her back and rub her tummy.
