To me, the most amazing part is that the dogs go in on helicopters and down the ropes with the handlers.

I see these stories and hug our three girls.

Scroll down, if you wish, for the video.

1. I would like to know that the dogs get bullet proof vests....
They are magnificent.

Of course, having had German Shepherds, I am bit prejudiced toward them, but Malinois are incredible dogs, no question.

Some videos of what the Malinois are capable of doing....

2. There was a show on last night about Broward County (FL) K9 teams
I wanted so bad to watch it, but the handlers seemed like pure Neanderthals. I think it was on Discovery.

3. That is sad. usually the dog guys are pretty good...and even take the dogs
home with them. After all, they are partners.

4. Before we decided to keep our GSD, my son and I were in touch with the local police
Understandably, there was uncertainty until she went through training, but the uncertainty we couldn't deal with was what might happen to her if she didn't make it.

We just never went further and decided to just keep her.

She never would have made it. She's the gentlest soul to ever put paws on earth (at least to us she is :) )
