If you need a sweet, gentle, abandoned kitteh, we are your peeps!

If anyone in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area would like this little charmer, we sadly can't keep her, please PM me. She's shorthair, with brintle markings, sleek, and desperately needs a new home. She's the most gentle cat I've seen in a long time. She looks a bit like an African wild cat in her coloring, so Derby named her Mali. We tried to get her used to our elderly cat, but that has not worked out. Even our cockatiel was completely freaked out.

She was crying all day and night trying to find her humans and an arctic front was on the way. We took her in, but she has to be isolated from our 20 year old cat - We've been trying to get them to know each other in supervised settings, but no luck. We don't want to take her to a shelter if we can avoid it, but we'll have to do it on Saturday if we can't find anyone to take her.

We don't have a picture yet, but I'll try to post one tomorrow.

2. Here is the response I got from my friend. I hope there is something here to help you.
I got this late last night:

Not in Dallas, all of my rescue friends in Dallas are dog. I only became
the crazy cat rescuer when I moved south. I'm 4 1/2 hours south of Dallas.

They don't really give enough information to know if she would be adoptable
down here or not. I can find homes for kittens 6 months or less. Older is
very tough unless they are some desirable breed like maine coon or Siamese.
It sounds like she is a tabby but I can't really tell from the description..

I do have a friend driving from Dallas to me tomorrow (leaving at 1 p.m.)
with a dog we just pulled from a kill pound in OK. If I knew more and had a
pic we may be able to take her, but I don't think there's enough time to get
the info out and to me before my friend leaves. I'm leaving for Austin at
10 tomorrow morning.

Also, that front just came through on Monday. That is not nearly long
enough to acclimate a new cat into an existing cat home. They need to put
the kitten in a large dog crate or a bathroom where their resident cat can
smell and get used to the new one. Should take weeks to do it properly.

They need to take it easy, separate them and not try to force the cats
together. Though 20 years old is tough, you really have to cater to that
one. Though they don't give enough info to know if the interaction is
really bad or not.
