Has this happened with any of YOUR kittehs?
Behavioral anomaly.

My youngest cat Finnegan underwent 'the procedure' (neutering) a couple weeks ago when he was about five and a half months old.
Figured he hadn't reached sexual maturity yet...my vet told me males usually figure it out at around nine months or so unless there is a queen in heat around...which can speed up the process a bit.

The anomaly is that now Wimsey, who is next to him age-wise (at nearly two years- and is also neutered) is suddenly much more willing to play with him. They did play together when Finn was younger, but that tapered off when Finn was about 3 months old.
Now they have games of Tag, Thud, Wrestling, Hide-n-Seek, Gotcha...
and often finish it up with mutual grooming and snuggled-up-together sleeping.

Not complaining about this behavior, no indeed! Makes me very happy to see my guys happy and getting along so well.

Just wondered if neutering makes THAT big a change in the social set-up even if the kitten isn't sexually mature...

1. Oh yes
It makes all the difference in the world. My new cat, Guy is a mature male just neutered two weeks ago. The other cats are slowing becoming more accepting of him and he has begun to play with them.
