Oh....ICK!
OK, so today's Wednesday, which means it's Trash Day. Take out the garbage, so it all gets gone, and notice that Riktor and Wimsey have apparently had a successful hunt the night before...a small rabbit, and something else furry of the class Rodentia...but both of them deceased.

Yuk.

Oh well, this is What Cats Do...so I'll just get the shovel and bury them with a benison for "Better luck next time, guys"...which is my usual procedure for this sort of thing.
Open the door (have to change my footgear from shuffly slippers to something a bit more sturdy so I can dig) and ZIP -Finnegan is out.

Makes a bee-line for the dead non-rabbit..."Hey cool! This is a toy I can REALLY get my teeth into!" and starts tossing it.
:puke:
"FINNEGAN YOU LITTLE SHIT, YOU GET BACK HERE RIGHT NOW!"
He goes under the car with his new 'toy'. :banghead:

My options are now:

A). Stand out here in my shuffly slippers, trying to coax the little rat out from under the car (and look like a damn fool in the process).

-or-

B). Keep in mind that it is for PRECISELY this type of behavior I make certain that ALL the cats receive a prophylactic dose of Cestex (a medication to prevent/kill tapeworms) 4 times a year. Accept that Finnegan is going to behave like a cat, and he'll come in when he's damn good and ready.
Stomp off muttering and post on DU Pets about it.

Later:
Finnegan met his mom again (she lives next door) for the first time since he came to live with me.
I know she's a small cat, but holee chit...at 14 weeks, Finn is almost as big as she is!
:wow:
Mother and Child reunion was a little stiff at first, but they were playing together before long.

Finnegan has come back inside, and is very pleased with himself...tired, happy and purring...
the little rat.

1. Believe me, I'm laughing WITH you
and there are times when we SO wish our furkids' natures weren't so, well, natural. Ugh. Collies roll in stuff to disguise their scent, partly not to spook sheep and partly to put wolves and coyotes off the fact that there are dogs nearby. My little darlings like to find fresh deer pee to bring home in their coats. Or even better (to their way of thinking, certainly NOT mine!) deer poop!

C'est trop charmant.. NNNNNnnnot.

The sentence is swift and there is no appeal: instant bath time -- as soon as I can catch them and herd their stinky butts into the shower for a good hosing and suds, that is. Oh yeah. Furkids doing what furkids do.

Lovely idnit.

Still, I wouldn't trade a second for those big, golden eyes in the morning as I go off to work that say, "I'll be here when you get home, still loving you."

2. Thanks!
:hi: :pals:

I wouldn't trade these guys either...:grouphug:

Had one cat that would always greet me if he was outside when I came home-
"Hi Mom! Wherethehell have you been?" and then he'd give me a general report.
I'd tell him I was glad to see him too and we'd bump heads together (standard cat greeting).

Hoping one of the current crew will decide to take up this duty...it's nice to have somebody welcome you home, isn't it?
