New additions to Whiskerville
Momma, daddy, and babies are our newest residents. First the babies were found in a barrel, and they were feared abandoned. Momma cat was trapped the next night, and daddy the next. Babies were bottle fed for the first night, but now the family is together again. The parents aren't exactly happy about the new digs, but at least the babies will be healthy and happy and get homes of their own, and hopefully mom and dad will adjust to life indoors.

That's daddy peeking in from the next condo:

Not sure you can tell from the pic, but Momma is a manx. Daddy is polydactyl. I didn't notice how many kitties were manx. I was too busy looking at their little noses!:loveya:

And on an unrelated note, here's pic of Chance and jennings lounging around last night...

1. Very sweet! Reminds me of our siamese who had black & white kittens
Glad mom was found and the family is all together.

How are Michelle's babies? Any new pics for us? They must be getting bigger and opening their eyes, right?

2. Michelle won't let me near them.
I think I lost her trust when I let them talk me into bringing them to the shelter. Since then, she won't let me near them. If I go into her room and sit on the floor and watch TV, she'll rub up against me and let me pet her and purr at me, but if I even look at the closet, she gets nervous. The funny thing is that at totally random times, she'll be loving the affection, and then without provocation, step back and take a swipe at me! Then, 2 seconds later, she's rubbing her head on me again!

Anyway, I talked to the folks at the shelter about it, and they agreed with my plan to just keep spending time in there and soon enough, the babies will come out of their cozy little closet on their own and start inspecting me. I don't know how Michelle will react then, but maybe if it's THEM coming to ME, it won't seem threatening like me going to them.

Any input would be appreciated!

3. The new babies are adorable. Mom looks Siamese from the pic.

You did a great job with the new family.

I think your plan of hanging out nearby and letting the babies come to you is excellent. No reason to get Michelle all upset. I would guess her unpredictable moods are part of being a protective mother and nursing her babies. Patience is your best bet.

PS. Chance and Jennings sure look comfortable.

4. I was told mom is a chocolate point Siamese manx:-)
The babies definitely got their coloring from Daddy! But I think most of them got mom's tail, or lack thereof!

10. Oh, and an update on my foster litter....
Momma is still guarding them intently, but they are starting to get more active! She had to shove a couple back into the corner away from me last night! I think that means they may be roaming around the room any day now, and momma won't have a choice about whether or not they meet me! I wonder how she'll handle that?
