Vet needed in Houston - SOS from woman evacuating -
This from HOuston Craigslist this a.m.

Does anyone know a vet/clinic/shelter/tech staying in Houston that can help this poor woman with her dog? Her phone # is below.

EMERGENCY HELP NEEDED

My dog is really, really sick. She is at Gulf Coast emergency hospital but they are packing up and leaving at 6am because of the hurricane.
They have told us to take her to A&M, but what is normally an 1 1/2-2 hour drive is probably 7 hours at the most right now, and if we run out of gas on the way there we're in trouble.
The doctors, understandably, won't let us take the IV with us, even though they are saying its a life and death situation- but they're leaving and telling us to drive for hours where we might not even make it.

IF ANYONE KNOWS A WAY TO GET A SALINE SOLUTION IV IN HOUSTON PLEASE HELP.
whether its a nurse, a vet at home- i will pay anything, or go anywhere- but A&M might be impossible.

PLEASE HELP.

1. I don't understand why
the doctors won't let her take the IV with her. I find that very strange. I have a box of lactated ringers here in NY, but I don't know if I could get them to her in time.

2. Did you call every vet? There's gotta be a vet that chose not to leave.

3. UPDATE: They got syringes

This was posted on Houston's craigslist:

Hello from Nicole and Goldie!

We have gotten her home from the emergency hospital, which apparently was the last place open at all in Houston. There might be others, but nobody is answering the phones, and with the roads so gridlocked, going to each one might be risky.

I have gotten lots of calls from people all over, and I can't thank you all enough.

She is doing fine, and has definitly regained her fussi-ness.

We got some syringes from the doctor to get water down her mouth, and we're headed somewhere where they will have a full syringe that we can use to inject a saline soulution into her skin.

Only problems now is to get her to drink water, but she's doing better and better.

If this was posted on other websites, please let everyone know that she is doing okay.
I will be leaving a voice mail on th enumber I gave out to let everyone know she is fine.
She and my family and I will be safe in West Houston.
