Free calls to all landlines and mobile phones within the US and Canada

We just announced that SkypeOut is now free within the US and Canada to all landlines and mobiles, until at least the end of 2006.

How does this work?

If you’re in the US or Canada, you can use SkypeOut to call any landline or mobile number in both the USA and Canada for free.

:)

1. Until the end of the year
I think long distance charges will be a memory in about 5 years. Our grandchildren will laugh when they read that people actually used to pay per minute for long distance calls.

Wonder what Skype plans at the end of the year?

3. Long DIstance charges have been a HUGH money maker for the phone companies
Because of the massive infrastructure built over the last hundred years, the (phone company) cost to deliver one minute of long distance service in the Continental US is about $0.009. You read that correctly - .9 cents per minute.

2. Thank you. Skype is going to save a bundle on mt international calls.
This week end I'm going shopping for a USB headset or USB whatever so I can plug a real phone into my computer.
BTY, Skype wants $10US up front to activate the service.
