My computer eats video cards
like candy. I run 3 monitors on XP it ate cards twice. So last month I switched to Windows 7 and tonight it ate my cards again. Any reason why this is happening? I am confused. ?????

2. How big and many cards, and how is your case ventilation? Do you monitor the temps?
Three monitors could be two off a card and one off the mobo, or two off one card and another off a second card etc

Even the smaller cards can throw a lot of heat, and if you're running two double-wides you may really have a little oven

I run two monitors, with one doublewide in my desktop, and unless I crank up the fans I'll get some parts inside the case at 150F -- and that's near the suggested limit for some electronic parts

3. Bad mobo or power supply is my first guess
You use the plural. Is this an SLI rig? If so, remove one card. Also, download and install Rivatuner and take a look at your GPU temps.

You may also want to look at your BIOS and see if something got unintentionally overclocked somehow. Your BIOS could be accidentally frying your cards.

5. I'm with you Occulus.
I suspect an underpowered power supply. It definitely sounds heat or power related.

6. I am
running 3 monitors off two video cards. The core temp was 154.4 degrees. I removed one card and I am using two monitors and the temp has dropped to 106 degrees. Since I have removed the card my computer no longer freezes. I am thinking about using a new video card that has three ports for the monitors. Although I do notice a spike in temp when I play a video.
I installed a program called Speedfan 4.43 to monitor my temps. http://www.almico.com/sfdownload.php
Thanks to everyone for the help.

7. I would suggest more cooling for the case
Or a case with bigger and more case fans. My main system has 2 140mm fans and a 120mm one just for the case. It keeps my OC'd to 4GHz 6 core cpu in the low 30's C.
