Sequence advice please RE: HP PSC 4120.
My old HP 1210PSC finally died. A few days ago I un-installed it and installed the new HP PSC 4180 Deskjet. I have had the new printer in the box for several years. Bought it on huge markdown sale. Sometimes saving $$ is not worth it.

Anyway, I installed it a few days ago, it will not scan. The machine does not recognize some of the the printer functions, I guess. HP Photo and Imaging Icon and HP Director say there is no device. If I un-install the printer and go to the HP website, can I install it completely from there?
I gather HP is telling me that my installation disk did not have the correct drivers in install.

I have never done an installation in this manner so I am unsure of myself.

Windows Home XP7 SP3.

I hope someone here will have some advice for me.
Thanks

1. Did you completely uninstall the old printer driver first?

3. Yes, no evidence of that one left that I can see.
There is, however, all kinds of HP junk that came with the installation of the new PSC. I wonder if that will go away if I un-install this one.
