I Downloaded Firefox succesfully, but can't open it. I get the same message as when I try and open up IE, "Cannot open this web page." Is firefox dependent on IE working? Whats the problem" I know someone out there has the knowledge. Thanks

1. Yes there are options in IE that can affect FF and other browsers. It's the connection
options setting. Usually dialup and Lan proxy setting can be change by malware.

Several ways to view these. I use control panel->internet options and then select connections tab. Then click on setting in the LAN PANEL and uncheck the proxy box if set. (Most do not use a proxy and if set may be malware). Also on the same tab check proper radio button for dialup(if your using any).

Without doing a lot of research, I think it may be the Yahoo browser which is conflicting with IE and FF.

Some things to investigate:

Also, in Internet properties, change your default browser to IE or FF and see if they work any differently.

If none of this helps, what anti-virus are you using?

4. No help there, but I forgot to mention that all the other
computers I have in the house (wireless) don't have a problem with IE opening up...just my desk top.

5. Do the other computers in the house have the AT&T Yahoo! browser on them?
The problem may be with it specifically.

FWIW - I think that the AT&T Yahoo! browser is just a rebranded version of Firefox. You probably don't get any benefit from using it.

7. Look in your Hosts file
To do that, browse to C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc and find the Hosts file. Open it with Notepad and post the contents back here.
