1. So I take it you like the velociraptor????
Man, that sounds great. If I ever get another dividend, I might follow suit.

Me? I just bought a new receiver so my toy budget is spent for the moment.

5. It'll be forever until I get a SSD drive. Overpriced.

:D

Should I beg the admins to restore my original name? (not a joke; you're like the 10th person to make mention of my original moniker... which is really my second one; I ditched the original when I hit the 20k post count in 2003...)

8. It's up to you.
You have a well established persona in HT, but if you want to recreate that persona, more power to you. I didn't have that much invested in my name.

10. And I am known as the Doctor. Whether you like it or not!

I think the change is permanent per the rules, even if yours is a good thought. :)

4. Yes ...

It's jut a model of drive. It's Western Digital's ramped up, high performance hard drive. I think it's something like 10,000 rpm. They can have marginally higher latency times than their Caviar (WD's other popular model) drives, but the seek and read times are almost half of the equivalent Caviar drive.

They're pretty awesome.

7. Aye. And my data drive is a Caviar Black (1TB, 32MB cache, 7200RPM)...
The performance differential is amazing; if anything I wish the Velociraptor had a 32MB cache, but I can't call that a complaint given its performance...)

6. Specs:
Asus P5Q Deluxe mobo (BIOS rev 1702; am thinking of reverting to 1406 due to overclocking hiccup)
8GB RAM
Fedora 10 operating system, 64-bit
VirtualBox running Windows XP SP3 with numerous services disabled for optimal performance.

Net RAM usage is 750MB and flies... (Vista used nearly 2GB and was slower than a comatose tortoise smoking valium in a freezer in January on the planet Neptune.)

Brilliant line. I hope I can remember that at the perfect time.

12. Meh, Xanax makes Valium look like Meth..
That comatose tortoise should be smoking Xanax. ;)

And Charon (Pluto's moon) is way colder than Neptune, there's speculation the atmosphere freezes every "winter" (actually aphelion) and falls like snow.

Vista sucks so hard that my daughter's very expensive laptop milked a herd of cows two and a half miles away..
