Can anyone recommend a good hosting service?
I created a very simple website using Publisher and have a domain name.

Are there any progressive hosting companies?

1. I don't know about progressive, but...
I know these guys are reliable AND cheap. I've had my domain with them for years.

2. thanks! That's good to know.
There are so many companies out there. I want to go with one that has been around a while and treats its customers well.

3. That definitely describes them.
If your site doesn't need a lot of space, and won't be getting tons of traffic, you can use their "Starter" package for just 3 bucks a month! I have never seen a deal that good from anyone else. You do have to pay for a year in advance but it can be done via credit card, PayPal, whatever. A real bargain regardless.

4. I use Globat myself
I've been with them for a little over 2 years now. Their reliability is outstanding and they keep improving their deal--and upgrading existing accounts for free when they do.

http://www.globat.com

For $5/month (for the first year, $7.95 thereafter) you get:
5,000 MB web server space
5,000 POP e-mail Accounts
75 GB Transfer

When I first signed up it the specs were 1GB (not 5), 1,000 email accounts, and 20gb transfer. They just keep getting better. :)

Of course, if you don't need that kind of space (and, honestly, it is a lot of space for personal pages/photos, which I use it for) then go with the less expensive alternative.
