I bought Panda Internet Security Maximum protection and as soon as
I put the disk in to install, all I get is Autorun.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience.

Will someone help me or should I call Staples where I bought the blasted thing (their brand)

1. Try disabling your current A/V and Firewall software before you try it again.

And it may require rebooting after you disable.

2. Thank You, but
 I had used AVGfree till it expired. I did remove it and disabled the Microsoft firewall in the security center and did a reboot as you say. The only other thing...should I click the box in the security center recommendations that tells microsoft I have anti-virus protection that I will monitor myself and maybe that will solve the problem?

Darn it to hell, I should have just bought the Panda system online instead of the disk at the store.

4. AVG doesn't "expire"

You must have had the older version they no longer support.

You can upgrade to the new revision of their free version.

5. Do this:
When you put in the disc, hold down the left SHIFT key and keep holding it until the disc stops spinning. (This bypasses Autorun.)
Then open up "My Computer" from the desktop.
Right-click the CD-ROM drive, and select "Explore" (NOT "Open")
This will list the contents of the disc. See if you can find a setup.exe (or similar) file and run that. Sometimes the autorun.exe is just a stub program that launches a real setup/install program, so you don't really need it to install the software.
