| Will adding a video card permit a 2nd monitor? |
|
The single monitor on this PC now is hooked up to onboard video.
Does anyone know if I can add a second monitor by adding this old PCI video card I found lying around? Or does it depend on BIOS? I've done it on other PCs that have digital and analog outputs, but not this way before.
I use a lot of development apps and really don't know how people get by without using at least 2 monitors....

Invest in a new videocard with two monitor outputs on the rear. It will work much better.

It was kind of dumb of me to ask the question and then immediately try it and find out for myself -- it worked!
I just hate to see old hardware go to waste. My onboard video and PCI video card work fine together. Now I have plenty of room for development.
Personally I prefer multiple monitors to one big monitor. Windows are more independent of one another that way IMO.
I took the second monitor from the PC my wife and kids were using which did have two outputs on one card. They never used the 2nd monitor anyway.
Now all I have to do is finish this project I've been working on for the past 5 years, and I'll be on my way....
