Anyone else having problems with XMMS and MP3 files?
I had downloaded the version from XMMS's site... seemed to work fine until I ran Fedora's yum -update option.

Now I'm getting this copyright and patent crap and I can't play MP3s.

:wtf:

I may as well spend the $60 and go back to suse. :eyes:

1. all applications that use mp3
now have to pay a licensing fee to these asses in California that bought the patent and decided to demand money for something that was FREELY available. I now just use older versions of anything that deals with mp3 so it doesn't cost me. Unfortunately all new players, applications and Os's now have limited use or pay to play.

2. Spending money for SuSE?

Ok, having the complete DVD and the manual is nice, but so far I never had problems in savaging and compiling the missing parts (Except for the fact that the standard SuSE setup does not include the GCC - how stupid is that?).

Anyway, the suse (now OpenSuSe) ISOs are here:
ftp://ftp.suse.com/pub/suse/i386/current/iso/
the OSS Edition is here:
http://www.opensuse.org/Released_Version#Choose_the_Download_Protocol

Personally I prefer VLC for media.

3. I'm using version 1.2.7 with no problems
That may be pretty old, I'm not sure. You could download and install an older version than the one you have. Or if you know C, it probably would be easy to patch the source.
