Ok I did it I bought a $119 Kitchen Aide Mixer
They had them at Amazon. 4 1/2 quart mixer. The price was right!

I love mine & use it all the time, though never for mashed potatoes. I have a hard enough time making sure they don't come out gummy.

I think I'm going to try to make some bagettes this weekend. There is even a recipe for that.
