Wow! Twinkie diet helps nutrition professor lose 27 pounds
<img src=>

For 10 weeks, Mark Haub, a professor of human nutrition at Kansas State University, ate one of these sugary cakelets every three hours, instead of meals. To add variety in his steady stream of Hostess and Little Debbie snacks, Haub munched on Doritos chips, sugary cereals and Oreos, too.

His premise: That in weight loss, pure calorie counting is what matters most -- not the nutritional value of the food.

The premise held up: On his "convenience store diet," he shed 27 pounds in two months... (rest at the link.)

1. Let's work this out...
24 hours minus 8 hours sleep is 16 hours, so he eats 5 Twinkies a day. OK, so maybe he eats 6 or 7. Even eight because there are two in a package.

Eight Twinkies at 150 calories each is 1,200 calories. Add a few hundred more from the Doritos and Swiss Rolls and you're still on track with Weight Watchers, although your blood sugar might eventually be off the scale.

And nothing about his workout schedule.

(Science can be silly.)

2. Okay, he lost weight eating food substitute.
Now, does he have the strength to walk around the block? This is really stupid and dangerous to his health. I hope others aren't desperate enough to be 'inspired' to follow his lead.

3. It was a basic deficiency diet based on junk food desserts
and I'm sure after the second week, he never wanted to see any of it again and had to force it down. That's why he lost weight.

I did that when I was younger, focused in on a problem food I tended to pig out on and eat that alone for a couple of weeks to cure the addiction. It pretty much worked, too.
